Dawn Raid on VIP Club Sends Shockwaves Through the City’s Elite Social Scene
LAGOS – The pulsating beat of Lagos nightlife was abruptly silenced in the early hours of Sunday when anti-narcotics agents stormed the upscale Proxy Nightclub in Victoria Island. In a major operation, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended prominent socialite Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, widely known as “Pretty Mike,” and former reality TV star Tuoyo Ideh, among more than 100 partygoers.
The raid, according to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, was the culmination of a carefully planned operation. Acting on a tip about suspicious activities, undercover officers had first entered the party around 11 p.m. on Saturday, blending in with the crowd to observe the scene for hours before the main force moved in around 3 a.m.
“We received credible intelligence, and our operatives confirmed the situation on the ground before the raid,” Babafemi stated. During the operation, officials reportedly recovered several prohibited substances from both guests and a storage area within the club.
The arrests have ignited a firestorm of discussion online, with many Nigerians expressing stunned reactions to the involvement of the well-known socialite, Pretty Mike.
All individuals taken into custody are currently being held for screening. The NDLEA has confirmed that those found culpable will be prosecuted under the law, reinforcing its commitment to ensuring the city’s entertainment hotspots are safe and lawful.
As the investigation continues, the public is watching closely to see how the case against these high-profile figures will unfold.
