Manchester United Unlikely to Pursue Signing of Sofyan Amrabat, Reports Suggest

Recent reports have indicated that Manchester United’s pursuit of Sofyan Amrabat is unlikely to come to fruition, despite ongoing speculation surrounding the midfielder’s potential move to the club.

Amrabat, who has garnered interest from various quarters, has been linked as a long-standing target for Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag. The Moroccan international has been granted the freedom to leave Fiorentina, provided the right offer is presented.

Although there have been murmurs of an impending transfer, sources have revealed that Manchester United, in private conversations, have conveyed their intention to not proceed with securing Amrabat’s services.

In light of the transfer speculation, Amrabat was notably excluded from Fiorentina’s lineup during their recent Serie A encounter against Lecce, fueling speculations about his possible departure. It is believed that the player’s focus has been diverted by interest from other clubs, rendering him in an unfit mental state to contribute to Fiorentina’s efforts.

Manchester Evening News, a reliable source for club news, has emphasized that the club’s interest in Amrabat has been exaggerated by the Italian media. The source has indicated that the player’s agent, Mahmoud El Boustati, has played a pivotal role in fueling these speculations. Notably, Liverpool was previously linked to Amrabat, but they have also distanced themselves from pursuing the midfielder.

Despite being considered an integral part of Fiorentina’s plans for the upcoming season, the club may be open to considering offers for Amrabat, should they fall within the range of £17 million to £21 million. Sky Sports has highlighted that such a bid could prompt Fiorentina to contemplate a sale.

While Amrabat’s situation remains in the spotlight, Manchester United has not abandoned its search for additional midfield reinforcements, particularly following an injury sustained by Mason Mount. The pursuit of Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch, who has had limited playtime at the Bundesliga club, has been mentioned as a possible option to strengthen the midfield ranks. However, United remains open to exploring other opportunities ahead of the imminent transfer deadline.
