Club’s leadership meets to assess options following Carvajal’s season-ending injury.
Real Madrid may be posting impressive results on paper, but behind the scenes, the team is grappling with a mounting injury crisis and concerns over player fitness. Despite an improvement in form in recent weeks, the growing list of injuries is causing significant concern at the club.
The latest blow came last week with Dani Carvajal’s season-ending injury, which has triggered alarm within Madrid’s management. According to reports from MARCA, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, alongside Santiago Solari and general manager Jose Angel Sanchez, called for an emergency meeting to evaluate the squad’s depth and consider potential reinforcements during the upcoming winter transfer window.
During the meeting, the trio carefully reviewed the available options for each position, discussing natural replacements, backup players, and potential academy promotions. Their conclusion was clear—new signings in January are necessary, particularly in defense, where the team is suffering the most.
Both Solari and Sanchez agree with Ancelotti’s assessment, especially given the long-term injuries and the physical toll on the squad due to the packed match schedule. Despite this unified stance, club president Florentino Perez remains skeptical about breaking Real Madrid’s longstanding resistance to winter transfers.
No final decision has been made, and the trio will present their findings to Perez in the coming days. Ancelotti, however, remains prepared to handle the rest of the season with the current squad if needed, although he has expressed concerns about managing the team for the remaining nine months of the season without reinforcements.
The next few weeks will be critical as Real Madrid decides whether to enter the January transfer market or rely on internal solutions to navigate the challenging season ahead.
