Real Madrid Open to €100 Million Bid from Liverpool for Rodrygo Amid Salah Replacement Search

Real Madrid is reportedly willing to entertain a €100 million bid from Liverpool for their Brazilian star, Rodrygo, as the Reds continue their search for a possible replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Salah attracted significant interest from the Saudi Pro League during the summer, particularly from Al Ittihad, who aimed to secure the Egyptian winger’s services. An initial verbal offer of £150 million was made to Liverpool just before the English summer transfer deadline, but Liverpool swiftly rejected it.

Reports even suggested that the Saudi league was preparing a staggering £200 million-plus proposal to acquire the 31-year-old, but plans changed when it became evident that Salah would not join before the Saudi transfer deadline. The Telegraph reports that Al Ittihad is poised to revisit their pursuit of Salah, with confidence in securing a deal in January if Liverpool is not in contention for the Premier League title.

Nevertheless, Liverpool has begun the season strongly under the management of Jurgen Klopp, winning five out of six games and remaining one of the three undefeated teams.

Despite their solid start, Liverpool is reportedly exploring contingency plans in case Salah departs, and recent reports suggest they have their sights set on Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.

According to Spanish outlet Nacional (via Football365), Real Madrid is prepared to accept a €100 million offer for the 23-year-old Brazilian winger. Rodrygo could potentially bolster Liverpool’s right-wing attack if he were to move to Anfield.

Rodrygo has become a key figure in Carlo Ancelotti’s system in recent seasons, playing a pivotal role in Real Madrid’s 2021/22 Champions League triumph with significant contributions. During the previous season, he tallied 18 goals and 10 assists across all competitions, primarily operating on the right flank.

The summer departure of Karim Benzema, coupled with a lack of subsequent reinforcements, has occasionally seen Rodrygo deployed as a striker alongside the likes of Jude Bellingham, Joselu, or Vinicius Junior.

While Kylian Mbappe’s potential arrival at the Bernabeu next summer could reshape Real Madrid’s forward lineup, it remains uncertain whether Rodrygo would be the one to make way, despite his different natural position.

Earlier reports from this month have indicated Liverpool’s interest in the Brazilian attacker, making the current window a potential opportune time for them to pursue the transfer.
