Ruger Opens Up About Ending Feud with BNXN

Afrobeats Stars Settle Differences to Focus on Music

Afrobeats singer and songwriter Michael Olayinka, better known as Ruger, has shed light on why he ended his longstanding feud with fellow artist BNXN, formerly known as Buju.

In a recent interview with Beats FM 99.9, Ruger explained that fan comparisons sparked their three-year conflict. However, both artists decided to prioritize creating good music together. Ruger acknowledged that while comparisons can be damaging, they also play a crucial role in the music industry by driving entertainment and competition.

Ruger emphasized the significance of focusing on quality music, highlighting their collaborative EP “RnB” as proof of what talented artists can achieve when they work together. By setting aside their differences, Ruger and BNXN have created something special for their fans.

“Comparison is a killer of joy, but it’s necessary for the game,” Ruger said. “This is what entertains people—the arguments and all that.”

He continued, “We looked beyond the comparisons and asked, ‘How can we push good music together?’ There are a lot of distractions in the music space now. Some people are releasing things that aren’t good but are using money to push it and it’s flying. If you look at the ‘RnB’ project, it’s very good music.”
