Senator Abubakar Kyari Takes Over as Acting National Chairman of the APC

Senator Abubakar Kyari, the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has assumed the role of acting National Chairman following the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu from the position.

According to the party’s constitution, when a national chairman resigns, the deputy national chairman from the respective zone assumes the role in an acting capacity. Senator Kyari, along with other members of the National Working Committee (NWC), convened a meeting at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja amid tight security.

The officials present at the meeting include Deputy National Chairman (South) Emma Enukwu, National Vice Chairman from various zones, and Deputy National Secretary Barr. Festus Fuanter. The gathering marks the transition of leadership within the party.

Senator Abubakar Kyari comes from a distinguished background, as the son of the late Brigadier Abba Kyari, a former military administrator of North Central. Born in Borno State on January 15, 1960, Senator Kyari obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee Martin in the USA in 1986. He further pursued his education and earned a Master’s in Business Administration from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1989.

His political career began in 1998 when he was elected as a member of the House of Representatives under the United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP). He continued his service as a member of the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2003 under the platform of the defunct All Peoples Party (APP). Senator Kyari also served as a Commissioner in Borno State from 2003 to 2005 and 2007 to 2011. In 2015, he was elected as a Senator representing Borno North on the APC platform and was subsequently re-elected in 2019. In 2022, he assumed the position of Deputy National Chairman.

With Senator Abubakar Kyari as the acting National Chairman, the APC is poised to continue its commitment to the party’s objectives and the welfare of its members.
