Afrobeat singer reveals emotional response to being left out of high-profile event.
Popular Nigerian singer Seun Kuti has opened up about his disappointment after not receiving an invitation to Davido’s lavish wedding. Speaking on the podcast Curiosity Made Me Ask with Isbae U, Kuti shared how deeply hurt he felt by the exclusion, despite his long-standing cordial relationship with the superstar.
Kuti recounted how Davido and his entourage frequently visited his ‘Shrine,’ drinking without paying, yet when it came to one of the biggest weddings in the country, he was left out. The singer admitted the snub affected him to the point that he struggled to sleep for nearly a week.
In the podcast, Isbae U humorously asked Kuti how it felt to be “one of the pirated Nigerian celebrities” who wasn’t invited to such a major event. Kuti responded candidly, saying, “E pain me. E pain me die. Because that Davido dey come drink for Shrine, e go pack like 100 people they go drink, they no go pay… I didn’t sleep for almost one week.”
