Singer Reveals Inspiration Behind Controversial Track Featuring Tiwa Savage
Renowned singer Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has opened up about the origin of her song ‘Men Are Crazy,’ shedding light on how her husband, Adekunle Gold, contributed to its creation.
The song, featuring Tiwa Savage, sparked discussions and mixed reactions due to its controversial theme. Many male fans expressed dissatisfaction with the song’s tone, criticizing the female artists. Speaking on Angela Yee’s podcast, ‘Way Up,’ Simi disclosed that it was Adekunle Gold who came up with the idea for the song.
She explained that initially, the song was recorded as a solo track. However, after completing two verses, Simi felt that something was missing. This realization led her to consider involving Tiwa S@vage in the project.
Simi acknowledged that while their music styles differ, she saw an opportunity to achieve balance by collaborating with the ‘Koroba’ crooner. She shared, “My husband gave me the idea for my song, ‘Men Are Cr@zy.’ He suggested, ‘Babe, how about we do a song where you say men are cr@zy but I still want one in my bed?’
I thought it was unexpected coming from me, so I created the song. I had already written two verses, but I sensed something was lacking. That’s when I decided to include Tiwa on the track.
Our music doesn’t usually align, but I wanted to find that balance and create something that would blend our styles. I sent the song to Tiwa, she added her verse, and we collaborated on the video.”
