Ex-Chelsea and Bayern Munich Boss Linked to Old Trafford Amid Erik ten Hag’s Uncertain Future
Thomas Tuchel has surfaced as a leading contender to replace Erik ten Hag as Manchester United manager, with the Dutchman’s future hanging in the balance following the club’s worst-ever start to a Premier League season. According to reports, the international break presents United with the perfect opportunity to make a managerial change.
According to Fichajes, Tuchel, the former Chelsea and Bayern Munich coach, has become the favorite to step in if Ten Hag is sacked. However, the German tactician has reportedly made a critical demand from Manchester United’s leadership: the signing of Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo.
Araujo, the highly-rated Uruguayan center-back, is currently recovering from a long-term injury sustained during the Copa America. Tuchel is eager to bring him to Old Trafford, viewing him as a crucial addition to bolster United’s defense.
Barcelona, however, are determined to keep the €70 million-rated defender. Araujo, one of the club’s five captains, is seen as a cornerstone of their future plans. The Catalan giants are preparing to enter contract negotiations in January 2025, as they attempt to extend his current deal, which expires in 2026.
Araujo’s future remains uncertain, but Tuchel’s insistence on his signing adds another layer of intrigue to the situation at Old Trafford, as Manchester United’s managerial decisions loom large.
