Pop Sensation Seeks Legal Intervention After Receiving Derogatory Messages for Maintaining Friendship with Sophia Momodu
In a letter dated January 9th, Nigerian music sensation Tiwa Savage has made startling revelations about receiving derogatory, malicious, and threatening messages from fellow artist Davido. The accusations stem from Tiwa Savage’s decision to post photos taken with Sophia Momodu, Davido’s baby mama, leading to a furious reaction from the singer.
Tiwa Savage detailed the incident in a petition, expressing concerns over the nature of the messages and the alleged threats made by Davido. According to the letter, Davido is reportedly upset with Tiwa Savage for maintaining a friendship with Sophia Momodu, with whom he has unresolved issues. In the letter addressed to the police, Tiwa Savage urged authorities to hold Davido responsible if any harm befalls her or her family.
The petition reads in part:
“MR. DAVID ADELEKE sent messages to my manager, who’s also part of his management team, that I shouldn’t worry and should never say a word to him and that I was taunting him, uttering very disrespectful, malicious, and derogatory words to my person.”
Tiwa Savage further stated that she responded to Davido’s messages, advising him not to reach out to her, especially considering her past support for him during difficult times. The exchange apparently led to a series of calls and messages from mutual connections, inquiring about the conflict and portraying Tiwa Savage as the aggressor.
The letter continues:
“The actions of MR. DAVID ADELEKE are unethical and can be viewed as a direct threat to my rights to life, privacy, and dignity of my person as guaranteed in Chapter 4 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), and are also in contravention of Section 24(2)(a) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015.”
Tiwa Savage concluded the petition by expressing her desire for the Nigerian Police Force to hold Davido accountable in the event of any harm to her or her family. The incident has sparked discussions on the ethical use of social media and the legal implications of online harassment within the Nigerian entertainment industry.
