Transfer gossip: Spurs ‘running risk’ of Chelsea move for Kane; City plot £34m Liverpool hijack

Tottenham are taking an almighty ‘risk’ when it comes to Chelsea and Harry Kane while City attempt another hijack, this time of Liverpool, Chelsea and Man Utd all at once.

THE CHELSEA KANE ‘RISK’
We thought The Telegraph may be above this sort of thing but apparently not (we absolutely recognise the irony of this). Harry Kane is building a house quite close to the Chelsea training ground. ALERT.

The report states: ‘Chelsea have been alerted to the fact that Harry Kane has commissioned the building of a sizeable new family home close to Wentworth Golf Cub, to the west of London, and just 15 miles from the club’s Cobham training ground…’

And to add some extra spice to that non-story, readers are reminded of the manager Kane has great fondness for who will be at the Chelsea helm. ‘…where Mauricio Pochettino will soon be in charge.’ Done deal.

‘There is no suggestion that an offer from Chelsea is imminent,’ the report continues. Well quite.

Telegraph journalist Matt Law then tweeted saying Spurs are ‘running the risk of Chelsea making a very serious play for Kane’ by letting him see out his contract.

Well sure, there’s a risk that any club could make a ‘serious play’, but earlier this month Law also explained why there is “no chance” Kane would move to Chelsea.

Meanwhile, former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is trying to lure Kane to Bayern. The Spurs striker is interested, and the Bundesliga club are reportedly set to up their initial £60m bid to £80m.

Munich is a long way from West London though. May as well just join Chelsea.

MAN CITY HIJACK
Manchester City are attempting another hijack having failed to steal Declan Rice away from Arsenal – if indeed they ever actually wanted the West Ham star, hmmm.

Anyway, not quite such a blatant one this time, with Fabrizio Romano claiming they’ve ‘entered the race’ for Gabri Veiga.

The 21-year-old registered 11 goals and four assists in La Liga with Real Madrid, Liverpool and Chelsea all thought to be tempted by his £34m release clause.

Wednesday’s gossip added Manchester United into that mix and now Manchester City have entered the running.

Romano tweeted: ‘Manchester City have entered the race for Spanish talent Gabri Veiga after pulling out of Declan Rice deal. He’s one of the options now being considered at the club. #MCFC

‘Liverpool and Chelsea remain interested but City also informed now. Release clause: €40m.’

MOUNTING TALKS
Chelsea and Manchester United appear to have let bygones be bygones and have had a good chat over a deal for Mason Mount. No-one wants this deal to fall through, except perhaps the Chelsea fans with their heads screwed on.

Fabrizio Romano says there is ‘confidence’ of a deal being done after the ‘first round of direct contract’.

He adds: ‘Man Utd and Chelsea will talk again soon. All parties consider this week as crucial moment to make final decision between United and Chelsea.’
