‘The Weekend’ Leads with 16 Nominations as Africa Celebrates Cinematic Excellence
The Africa Film Academy (AFA), organizers of the prestigious Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), has unveiled the nominees for its 2024 edition. The announcement was made during a press briefing held on Wednesday at the Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos.
In partnership with the Lagos government, the 20th edition of AMAA is themed “Celebrating African Creativity.” Nigerian film The Weekend by Uche Okocha emerged as the top contender with 16 nominations, while Femi Adebayo’s Jagun Jagun secured seven nods.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for November 2 at the Balmoral Hall, Sheraton, Ikeja, Lagos.
