The Lagos State Police Command has officially acknowledged receiving a petition filed by popular Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage against fellow artist Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke. The petition alleges harassment and threats that Tiwa Savage claims to have endured from her colleague.
In the petition, Tiwa Savage, known for her hit track “Somebody’s Son,” accuses Davido of using derogatory language in response to a post featuring herself and the singer’s baby mama, Sophia Momodu. The widely shared petition sheds light on the deteriorating relationship between the two music icons.
Expressing her disappointment with Davido’s alleged threats, Tiwa Savage emphasized her past support for him during challenging moments, notably after the loss of his son Ifeanyi. Despite this, she claimed to have received inquiries from acquaintances questioning her behavior and friendship with Sophia, which could have potentially irritated Davido.
In response to an inquiry by PUNCH, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed on Tuesday that an investigation has been initiated into the allegations. He stated, “I can confirm to you that we have received the petition, and investigation has commenced.”
As the police delve into the matter, fans and followers are closely following updates on the dispute between the two musicians, highlighting the increasing impact of social media on celebrity relationships and the potential legal consequences of online conflicts within the Nigerian entertainment industry.
