Nigerian Navy Reshuffles Senior Officers to Enhance Efficiency

The Nigerian Navy has announced a reshuffling of appointments for 56 Rear Admirals and a Commodore in order to revitalize the service and promote efficiency. The Director of Naval Information, Commodore Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan, released a statement in Abuja on Thursday, disclosing the changes in key senior positions within the Navy. The realignment aims to strengthen the Navy’s capabilities and optimize its performance across various strategic areas.

Key Appointments and Reassignments: Commodore Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan outlined the notable appointments resulting from the recent shake-up. Rear Admiral Olusanya Bankole, previously the Director of Logistics at the Defence Space Administration, has been appointed as the Chief of Communications and Information Technology at Naval Headquarters. Rear Admiral Alexander Bingel, formerly the Director of Combat Policy and Tactics, has assumed the role of Director of Logistics at Defence Headquarters.

Furthermore, Rear Admiral Ibrahim Dewu has been appointed as the Chief of Defence, Civil-Military Cooperation at Defence Headquarters. Rear Admiral Kennedy Ezete now serves as the Chief of Administration, while Rear Admiral Livingstone Izu assumes the position of Chief of Logistics. Other significant appointments include Rear Admiral Musa Madugu as the Admiral Superintendent of the Naval Ordinance Depot and Rear Admiral Daupreye Matthew as the Director of Training at Defence Headquarters. Rear Admiral Zakariya Muhammad has been named the Chief of Training and Operations.

Reappointments and Redeployments: Commodore Ayo-Vaughan further highlighted several reappointments within the Navy. Rear Admiral Emmanuel Nmoyem has been reappointed as the Director of Human Rights Desks at Defence Headquarters. Rear Admiral Ibrahim Shettima, formerly the Flag Officer Commanding of the Central Naval Command, has been redeployed to Defence Headquarters as the Director of Plans. Rear Admiral Monday Unurhiere, the former Director of Plans at Naval Headquarters, is now the Chief of Defence Administration.

Prominent appointments also include Rear Admiral Sulaiman El-ladan as the Director of Marine Research at the Defence Research and Development Bureau, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas as the Chief of Naval Safety and Standards, and Rear Admiral Mohammed Abdullahi as the Flag Officer Commanding of the Western Naval Command. Rear Admiral Saheed Akinwande, the former Commandant of the Naval War College Nigeria, has been appointed as the Director of Operations at Naval Headquarters.
