President Bola Tinubu Vows to Hold Non-Performing Ministers Accountable – Hadiza Bala Usman

Special Adviser Emphasizes Rigorous Assessment and Consequences for Underperforming Cabinet Members

In a stern warning to underperforming ministers, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy and Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, asserted that the president is committed to weeding out non-performing officials from his cabinet. Speaking at the technical retreat for delivery desk officers in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Usman emphasized the president’s dedication to fulfilling promises aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.

Usman urged the delivery officers and planning directors present at the retreat to demonstrate unwavering commitment to their responsibilities. She highlighted the crucial role of ministerial delivery desk officers as the driving force behind providing feedback, monitoring progress, and reporting challenges to the Central Coordinating and Delivery Unit (CDCU).

The Special Adviser outlined the criteria for assessment, stating, “Ministers will be dropped if they don’t perform.” She cited examples from various sectors, emphasizing the need for tangible improvements that citizens can experience, such as efficient airport facilities and enhanced agricultural indices, specifically fertilizer use per hectare.

Representing the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Senator George Akume, Sir Olusegun Adekunle reminded participants of Tinubu’s vision to engage citizens actively in governance. He emphasized the crucial role participants play in holding ministries and parastatals accountable for delivering on their mandates.
