Man Hospitalized After Wife Attacks Him in His Sleep

Kaduna State Incident Leaves Community in Shock

A 40-year-old man, Salisu Idris, from Kudan town in Kaduna State, was rushed to the hospital after his wife, Habiba Ibrahim, nearly severed his manhood while he was asleep. The shocking incident occurred on May 26, shortly after Idris returned from early morning prayers and was resting before starting his day as a commercial motorcycle operator.

Idris recounted that his wife suddenly attacked him with a sharp knife while he was lying in bed. His screams for help alerted neighbors, who came to his rescue. The couple has been married for four months, and Habiba is two months pregnant.

Idris expressed his bewilderment over the attack, stating that there had been no prior arguments or issues between them. He said, “We loved each other, and there was no fight or problem when she attacked me.”

After the attack, Idris was initially taken to General Hospital Makarfi and then transferred to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Shika, Zaria, where doctors are working to save his life.

When asked if he could forgive his wife, Idris said his main concern is his recovery, though he admitted the incident has made him fearful of remarrying.

Rabi Salisu, Idris’ mother, who is caring for him at the hospital, confirmed that her son had never complained about his wife and that Habiba had no known mental health issues. The wife’s parents have expressed concern and are willing to cover Idris’ medical expenses.

Habiba Ibrahim is currently in police custody, and attempts to reach the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer for comment were unsuccessful.
