Afrobeats sensation Seun Kuti has finally spoken out following his release from police custody, where he had been held for over a week. The renowned singer was granted bail on Tuesday night from the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Lagos.
The news of Seun Kuti’s release was confirmed by his attorney, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, SAN, during a telephone interview with Punch. Olumide-Fusika stated, “Yes, Seun Kuti was released minutes ago.”
Taking to his Instagram page after regaining his freedom, Seun Kuti shared a heartfelt appreciation post, expressing gratitude to his wife, family, and legal team for their unwavering support during his time in custody. He acknowledged that their love and dedication were instrumental in preserving his freedom and sanity.
“I want to say a profound thanks to everyone who showed me all this love. All my friends that showed up! Thanks most especially to my beautiful wife,” Seun Kuti wrote, expressing his heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of support he received.
In a separate post, the afrobeat icon extended his gratitude to his legal team, recognizing their pivotal role in securing his release. He mentioned prominent legal figures such as Uncle Femi Falana (SAN), Uncle Olumide Fisika (SAN), Uncle Kayode Adegoke (SAN), Barrister Ogunlana, and Ade Ademiluyi, expressing his indebtedness to them for safeguarding his freedom and preserving his sanity.
